On Monday morning, I was given the clearance to begin putting weight on my left leg but really didn't do it very well until I went to PT on Tuesday. It was quite the appointment on Monday! It went from go ahead and start walking to 'I want to see you in 3 weeks and you have to lose the crutches by then too and if your knee is still swollen in 3 weeks we will inject something into it,.....' It really didn't matter what he said, he could of told me someone just stole your car, as long as I could start walking, I was happy as a clam.
The first step was awful, if felt like I was stepping on a bed of needles, the pain was in my foot not in my knee (that's positive)! I continued to use two crutches for about 48 hours and then it didn't matter, I dropped to one and went to physical therapy on Thursday. That was an extreme doosy: bicycle, step ups, leg pushes, balance practice on my weak leg, and the list goes on!
AND today....without even thinking, I took a step without any crutches. For those rule followers, it's okay...I'm suppose to have my brace on and use one crutch if I leave my house, so I do...for now :)
It is going very well! I feel great and the new count down begins. I am only allowed to walk until I am 3 months post surgery (only 40 days to go).
On a humorous note...Roby was out of town or had something everyday this week from noon to 9 p.m. so on Wednesday, I took all the children to Noelle's soccer practice. Since I had the clearance to put weight on my leg and I could kind of get around with one crutch, I let Natalie out of the car. Thank goodness for the sandpit! We didn't leave practice clean but the 90 minutes went very fast!
